The District Library, Dimapur, established in the year 1981, is a branch of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland. Catering to all sections of the people residing in the Dimapur, it aims at providing information and knowledge through its resources while also preserving it, and also at promoting and encouraging reading habits specially among children and young people. The District Library is open to all residents of Nagaland for membership. To become a member, he or she is required to fill the prescribed form available from the library office. An amount of Rs 200/- shall be deposited during enrolment. On withdrawal/cancellation of membership from the Library, a sum of Rs 30/- shall be deducted from the deposit for maintenance. The Library remains open on all working days between 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. from October to February and 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. from March to September. It shall remain closed on Saturdays, Sundays and all general holidays.
